According to a report from CBS17, a fuel spill from a tanker crash has closed Country Club Drive in Fayetteville near Lakecrest Thursday morning, according to the Fayetteville (NC) Fire Department (FFD).
FFD and emergency crews responded to a collision at approximately 2:18 a.m. The FFD’s release said that the tanker crashed and overturned, pinning the driver inside the cab and rupturing the fuel tank.
Fire crews eventually freed the driver, who was then taken to the hospital for evaluation. The Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) said the driver is in good condition.
The FFD’s hazmat team is on the scene working on the gas leak.
Country Club Drive will be closed until the scene is cleared, the FFD said. The FPD said the road is closed northbound at Renfrow Drive and southbound at McChoen Drive.
Drivers should use alternate routes. There is no time frame for when the road will reopen.
