SAVANNAH, Tenn. (AP) — A man and his 6-year-old daughter were killed in a personal watercraft crash on a west Tennessee lake, wildlife officials said.

David Carter was operating a personal watercraft on Pickwick Lake in Hardin County when he collided with another personal watercraft on Saturday afternoon, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said in a news release.

Carter, 40, of Shelby County, died at the lake. His daughter, who was on the craft with him, was taken to a Memphis hospital. She later died, the agency said.

The operator of the other watercraft was not hurt. State wildlife officials are investigating.

Pickwick Lake is known for fishing, boating and other recreation options. The lake is a reservoir of Pickwick Landing Dam and it is located about 150 miles (240 kilometers) east of Memphis.
