Texas Firewalkers are hosting the nationally-sanctioned Central Texas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Sunday 9/11/2011 in Austin, Texas.
This event will help commemorate the 343 firefighters from FDNY who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.
This event will be opened to the public but space is limited to 343 participants. Participants will be from all walks of life that will include local firefighters’ dressed in full personal protective gear while making the climb. There will be a small ceremony at the beginning of the climb as well and moments of silence during the climb that mark the attacks on each build and the times each tower fell. Each climber will be carrying the accountability tag of a fallen FDNY firefighter. This event will raise money for the Texas Firewalkers and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Texas Firewalkers is a local non-profit organization that provides immediate assistance mostly to victims of residential fires and other incidents that were result of fire. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation provides assistance to families of firefighters that lose their lives in the line of duty. Each year in the United States, the fire service averages about 100 deaths.
Texas Firewalkers Founder Blake “PeeWee” Henson asks for contributions to help continue this cause as they support fire victims in Central Texas as needed. Donations to this event will not go unappreciated. Names and/or company name of contributors will be added to the Texas Firewalkers website and sent to Texas Firewalkers blog members’ to add information about your company. Specific information you choose about your company can then be sent to website members. You will also be added as members of the Texas Firewalkers for one year with your company logo being placed on the site. Your donation is appreciated and your support to promote this cause will help the organization grow to help more Central Texans in time of need.
