Texas LODD Task Force Hosts 2nd Annual Memorial Ride and Cook-Off

A Message from Wendy Norris, Director, TX LODD Task Force:

On June 25, we will be hosting our 2nd Annual Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride & Cook-Off in the Houston area.

We will kick the day off with a pancake breakfast at the Cy-Fair VFD Station 11 in Cypress, TX. Afterward, a memorial and wreath laying ceremony will honor our fallen firefighters and EMS providers.  This year the family of Capt. Grady Burke of the Houston Fire Department, will be laying the wreath.  From there, the motorcycle ride will begin with kickstands up at 11am. The ride will go through scenic routes in Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston Counties.

The ride will end at the Galveston County Fairgrounds where there will be a cook-off and a fire fest. Come see antique fire trucks, life flight, the children’s area, live entertainment, vendors and more!

We are encouraging fire department and EMS agencies to participate.

We are in need of the following:
  •  Fire & EMS Apparatus Escorts for the Motorcycle Ride/Procession
  • Event Sponsors
  • Cook-Off Teams
  • Motorcycle Riders
  • Vendors
  • Apparatus to Compete in Fire Muster
  • Apparatus & Equipment for Display/Demonstration at Fire Festival/Cook-Off
  • Fire Safety Trailers
  • Arson Dogs for Demonstrations
  • Fire Safety Clowns for the Children’s Area
  • Pipe & Drums for Demonstrations
  • Fire & EMS Related Auction Items
  • General Volunteers
Last year we had agencies from all across the State of Texas and several from around the U.S. participate.  We want to make this year’s event bigger and better and that means we will need all of the help we can get.

Please pass the information to anybody and everybody.  If you would like flyers to email, print or hand out, please email wendy@firechaplains.org.

We are specially in need of sponsors, cook-off teams, and auction items.  If you can help, please let me know!  You can also visit our website at www.texasfallenheroesride.com
