Texas Paramedic Killed in Accident Involving Ambulance

Daniel Hampton, an emergency medical technician and firefighter from Burnet, was killed Friday night in a traffic collision involving his ambulance, the Burnet Fire Department said in a news release Saturday morning, reports statesman.com (http://atxne.ws/1MyylAD)

At approximately 9 p.m., the ambulance Hampton was operating collided with another vehicle in the 19000 block of U.S. 290 outside of Liberty Hill, authorities said. Hampton was fatally injured in the wreck.

His paramedic partner and the patient in the ambulance both received injuries and were taken to a local trauma center for treatment, authorities said. Their names were not released.

The release did not specify how the wreck happened or whether people in the other car were hurt.

The Burnet Fire Department said additional information would be released at a later time.
