The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation of Port Republic, Maryland, announced the winners of its 1998 scholarship competition. CHRISTOPER A. BLAIR, acting battalion chief of the Santa Barbara (CA) Fire Department; CECILIA N.H. CAUSEY, assistant coordinator of emergency services for Stafford County (VA) Emergency Management; JEFFREY A. GROTE, chief fire marshal of the Kansas City (MO) Fire Department; and WILLIAM A. LOWE, captain, EMS Division, Clayton County (GA) Fire Department each received $1,500. The foundation was founded in 1988 honor of James G. Yvorra, who died in the line of duty. He was deputy chief of the Berwyn Heights station of the Prince George`s County (MD) Fire Department.
