GOOSE CREEK (SC) – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office confirmed a third death after an explosion and fire at the Pine Harbour Apartment Complex on Harbour Lake Drive in Goose Creek on Thursday.
Coroner Bill Salisbury said that a third body was found in the fire shortly after midnight this morning. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Authorities held a press conference said that two other bodies were recovered following a fire that broke out around 12:30 p.m. Investigators confirmed that the first two bodies recovered were of an adult male and a male child.
They also confirmed that a woman jumped out of a window to escape the fire. She was treated and released for a leg injury. One man is being questioned regarding the incident.
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dan Moon said the fire is being treated as a crime scene. The investigation is being passed to the DEA; the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is also being asked to assist with the case.
