Three Alarm Fire Damages 10 buildings in Florence (CA)

An early morning fire damaged a commercial building in Huntington Park. After quickly opening up the building and encountering heavy volumes of smoke and fire, Firefighters went directly to “defensive mode,” reports dispatchtimes.com.

Firefighters began battling a blaze in the 5800 block of Hooper Avenue (map) around 1 a.m., a county fire official stated on Periscope. During the firefight several roofs caved in and a large portion of wall on the main fire building collapsed outwards unto the street.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department was called to assist at the scene as authorities declared a greater alarm fire.

In total, more than 250 firefighters are working to extinguish hot spots at the scene. Other buildings, businesses and homes were also damaged in the raging fire.

Nearly an entire city block, which included several businesses and single-family dwellings, burned, county fire’s David Dantic said.

Firefighters saved two homes and a business, but the contents of the business were destroyed, he said.
