Three people, including a 3-year-old child, are dead following a house fire Wednesday morning in eastern North Carolina. A fourth person was taken to a burn center, reports WITN News.
The fire was reported around 6:15 a.m. just a few miles west of Roanoke Rapids, WITN reported.
Kaleb Ponton, 3, died Thursday at a burn center in Chapel Hill. Ernest Williams and his sister-in-law, Dora Patterson, were found dead in the fire.
Joyce Ann Williams, who owns the home, remains in critical condition at a Chapel Hill burn center.
One end of the home was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, though fire officials believe it started in the kitchen.
