Three people were found dead following a house fire early Thursday, February 23, 2023, in the village of Monroe, New York.
According to a release from the Monroe Police Department, at around 12:55 a.m., police along with the Monroe Joint Fire District responded to a reported house fire at 44 Highland Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene to find a “fully engulfed house fire,” according to the release from Chief Darwin Guzman. Neighbors said residents of the hosue were possibly still incident, but heavy fire conditions prevented officers from making entry. On arrival, firefighters began extinguishing the fire and attempted rescue.
The Monroe Joint Fire District and neighboring fire districts extinguished the fire, and three victms were found deceased inside the residence.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
