Three FDNY Firefighters, Two Others Injured in Apartment Fire

According to a report from ABC7, three Fire Department of New York (FDNY) firefighters as well as two residents were injured after a violent fire erupted on the eighth floor of an apartment building in Brooklyn, New York, early Thursday morning.

The fire began at around 2:20 a.m. in the Marlboro Houses on Avenue V. Residents reported hearing an explosion as the flames ignited. When they looked outside, they witnessed a large fireball and smoke.

Two residents as well as three FDNY firefighters suffered injuries.

One resident reported that she was able to evacuate by the stairs just as fire crews arrived, saying the smoke did not stop her from escaping.

Firefighters used flashlights to help sift through debris and investigate the caused of the fire. Crews rapidly extinguished the flames.
