Three Firefighters Injured, Elderly Woman Rescued from Apartment Fire in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen

A fire erupted 1 a.m. Wednesday morning on the west side of New York City, injuring three firefighters.


According to a report from NBC4, a large fire erupted 1 a.m. Wednesday morning at an apartment building in Hell’s Kitchen on the west side of New York City, injuring at least three people.

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) officials said an 83-year-old woman, who was asleep on the fifth floor of the apartment building, as well as several other residents needed to be removed to safety by cherry picker.; she suffered minor injuries. Three firefighters were also hurt.

The FDNY says the fire appears to have started on the third floor and extended to the second floor before firefighters were able to extinguish it.

Investigators are still on scene attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
