Three Florida Firefighters Injured Fighting Structure Fire

Three Martin County firefighters were injured this morning, one critically, while battling an early morning fire in Stuart (FL), reports the Palm Beach Post.

Crews arrived within minutes and found heavy smoke conditions and began searching for possible victims.

During the search, conditions rapidly deteriorated and the firefighters were overcome by intense heat and were forced to make a mayday call.

They were rescued by fellow firefighters.

One firefighter was treated and released on the scene, the second was taken to a local hospital and released this morning and the third was flown by LifeStar to Jackson Memorial Burn Unit in Miami and remains in critical condition.

The Florida State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
