Three more victims’ bodies were recovered Monday from the scene of a deadly grain elevator explosion in Atchison, Kansas. That brings the total number of people killed in the Saturday incident to six.
Three victims were found during the weekend but unstable concrete, hanging steel beams and other damage had forced crews to temporarily call off their search at the Bartlett Grain Company facility, according to a report from the Associated Press (CLICK HERE).
Two people were also hospitalized with burn injuries.
The explosion occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday. People three miles away felt the force of the blast, according to a statement from city officals, which also indicated that stored grain can generate toxic gases and cause explosions under certain conditions.
