TN Cop, Dog Investigated After Firefighter Bit at Crime Scene

A Murfreesboro (TN) Police Department K-9 officer and his dog are under investigation after the canine bit a Murfreesboro firefighter at the scene of a burglary in progress Wednesday, according to a report on dnj.com. An initial investigation revealed that the officer did not act inappropriately at the scene.

The firefighter, Lance Sutton, responded to the scene after a witness to the crime called the station where Sutton was working. Sutton suffered serious bite wounds and was treated and released from an area hospital.

The report indicated that the officer let the dog loose in an effort to halt a fleeing suspect. Sutton evidently got in between the pursuing dog and suspect, and the dog turned on Sutton. The police officer purused the suspect and cuffed him, then returned to the injured Sutton.
