Chattanooga (TN) Crews Battle Fire in Vacant Home

Raging fire in a Chattanooga home.

Last week, Chattanooga (TN) firefighters responded to an early morning fire in a vacant house at 3123 Lightfoot Mill Road. Battalion Chief Don Bowman said the house was fully engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. The flames were beginning to spread to some nearby trees and could be seen from miles away. 

Chief Bowman said firefighters with six fire companies quickly brought the fire under control. No injuries were reported. An estimate on the dollar loss was not available. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Chattanooga police and Hamilton County EMS also provided assistance on the scene.

Five people were killed when fire swept through a home in Atoka, Tennessee, news reports say. Two boys escaped the predawn fire and went to call for help. Firefighters pulled one person from the fire, however the person died, along with four others found inside the home.
