Toledo (OH) Firefighter Badly Burned in Fireground Search

A firefighter suffered severe burns to his hands while searching for children inside a burning vacant home during an early-morning call in central Toledo, Ohio.

Crews initially responded to an address some blocks from the fire scene, but were redirected to the address of the fire by a man who also informed them of the presence of kids inside the burning home. No one was found in the home after extinguishment.

The firefighter was part of a search team sent to locate the children. He was transported to an area hospital where he is recovering from his injuries, according to a news report.
