Trial: Detroit Firefighters Say Woman Never Told Them About Baby in Burning Home

A trial is set to begin in Detroit where a woman allegedly never told firefighters about a child inside a burning home, according to reports.

According to Detroit FOX 2, the adoptive mother is accused with child abuse. During an April 5 fire in 2021, Detroit firefighters responded in the early morning hours to a fire in 11800 block of Riad Street. Crews managed to rescue numerous animals from the building, but were stunned to find an 18-month-old child still inside—a fact which the accused purportedly never mentioned, firefighters were reported to have said. The child also reportedly showed signs of abuse.

A neighbor and the woman say otherwise, according to the report.
