Twenty Hurt in North Carolina School Bus Accident

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said 20 people have been hurt in a school bus wreck in Union County, reports The Associated Press.

The wreck happened shortly before 8 a.m. Monday near Indian Trail.

Sgt. Michael Baker says a bus operated by Jennifer Blake of Indian Trail was traveling north when the bus ran off the road, overcorrected and crossed the center line, hitting a minivan.

Baker says Blake and 16 students on the bus were taken to Carolinas Medical Center Union Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another student was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the minivan, Stacie Pressley of Indian Trail, was also taken to the Charlotte hospital along with a 2-year-old child in the minivan.

Baker says troopers are still investigating.
