Two Dead in VA House Fire

According to a report from WTVR, two people died in a house fire that erupted on the east side of Henrico, Virginia, early Thursday morning.

Henrico Division of Fire (HDF) officials received a call from the neighbor of a home on Elkridge Lane near Mechanicsville Turnpike at around 2:20 a.m. HDF crews arrived on scene in just a few minutes and entered the home, searching to rescue any residents.

HDF officials said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to a local hospital, where the victim later died.

HDF Chief Henry Rosenbaum said it was unclear if the home contained working smoke detectors.

Henrico Fire Marshal’s Office, Henrico Fire, and Henrico Police investigators later spoke with several neighbors, looking for further information. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
