Two Firefighters Injured in Mantoloking (NJ) Fire

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting a fire that damaged a home on Lagoon Lane Friday night, reports The Asbury Park Press.

A Mantoloking Fire Department firefighter sprained an ankle and a Bay Head firefighter suffered smoke inhalation, said Lt. John Barcus of the Mantoloking Police Department.

The home’s occupants were out to dinner during the fire and “the first floor was gutted out,” Barcus said. “It looked like (firefighters) saved most of the structure.”

Barcus believes that two Brick fire departments and departments from Point Pleasant Beach and Point Pleasant also responded to the fire.

The fire began at 5:30 p.m. and firefighters finished their work at 8 p.m., Barcus said.
