PROVIDENCE — At least two people were driven from their house by a fire before 7 a.m. Wednesday at the corner of Farm and Webb streets in the Mount Pleasant section of the city.

Both were taken to the hospital. Word on their conditions was not immediately available.

A witness who called 911, Lynne Smith, said she saw one of the two people, a man, try to reenter the house several times and yell to someone inside, “Come on, get out, get out.”

Firefighters later carried a woman out of the house and performed CPR on the front lawn before taking her away in an ambulance.

Investigators said it is too early to determine the cause of the fire.
