Two people were killed in an apartment fire Friday morning in Shawnee, Kansas.
The victims were in a basement of the Carlyle Apartments and it is suspected they died of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters reportedly only encountered light smoke emanating from the building when they arrived on scene, according to a KCTV report (http://bit.ly/ApUUqC). Inside they encountered a heavier smoke condition where the victims were found. Firefighters removed them and crews performed CPR, but it was no use.
