Two PA Firefighters Injured in House Fire

Two firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries during a fire that destroyed a home Saturday in Plains Township, Pennsylvania.

Firefighter Andy Shedlock was hospitalized after being struck in the head by debris from a first-floor ceiling collapse. Frank Colonna suffered chest pains during the incident, according to a report on citizensvoice.com (http://bit.ly/yytSx1). A fire official indicated that the injured firefighters were doing okay.

Residents were able to safely escape from the fire with three dogs.

Firefighters from Plains Township, Kingston, Laflin, and West Pittston worked for about two hours to control the fire. The house involved was almost completely destroyed.

Narrow alley access to the home challenged firefighters during the fire as they tried to extinguish flames on multiple sides of the structure.
