Two Victims of Ohio House Fire Identified

The victims of a fatal house fire in Shaker Heights (OH) were identified as Jance Reynolds, 62, and his daughter, Mary Paige Reynolds, 18, reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

They both died of smoke inhalation, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Shaker Heights Fire Chief Kevin Jacobs said the fire started in the rear of the first floor, in the area of the kitchen and the dinette.

“The fire just burned right up the staircase to the finished second and third floors,” he said.

Firefighters were on the scene at 4 a.m. Tuesday and remained there until this morning. Five other people got out of the burning house and were taken to a nearby hospital. Their names and current conditions are unknown.

Firefighters found the bodies of the father and daughter on the second floor.

Jacobs said the house is so badly damaged it will have to be demolished. The value of the house was between $300,000 and $450,000.

Jacobs said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
