TX Fire Captain Dies After Heart Attack on Fireground

The U.S. Fire Administration issued a report on the death of a veteran fire captain with the Sugar Hill (TX) Volunteer Fire Department who died while working the pump on the fireground.

On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, Captain Wesley Vanderver, 86, responded to a residential fire. While working pump operations, he suffered a heart attack. CPR was immediately performed and he was transported to the local hospital. He passed away a short time later.
