TX Fire Chief, Firefighter Killed in Crash Returning from Call

A firefighter and the fire chief for the Dalhart (TX) Volunteer Fire Department were killed in a crash returning from an emergency call, according to the department’s social media page.

Firefighter Brendan Torres and Fire Chief Curtis Brown were involved in a motor vehicle accident with a semi while returning from a run earlier in the night. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration notifications, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, Chief Curtis Brown, 51, and Firefighter Brendan Torres, 19, were returning from a mutual aid traffic accident when they were involved in a motor vehicle collision with a semi-tractor trailer, and both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigation into the incident continues.
