Uxbridge Fire Too Destructive for Cause Declaration

The state Fire Marshal’s Office announced that the Uxbridge (MA) fire that claimed the lives of a mother and daughter Monday night was too destructive to determine a cause, reports the Boston Herald.

“The extensive destruction of the Uxbridge building is not going to allow us to define a definitive cause. The building for all intents and purposes was destroyed. The fire initiated in the apartment where we found the deceased, but we have no witnesses,””said Fire Marshal Stephen Coan.

“You have to have the evidence to be able to draw the conclusion,” he said. “Here, we have no physical evidence that can definitively lead us to a cause and because of the tragedy, no witnesses.”
