Vacant NY Seminary School Building a Total Loss After Massive Fire



According to a report from WNYT, the landmark Doane Stuart School in Albany, New York, near Mt. Hope Drive is a total loss after a massive fire swept through the vacant structure Thursday night.

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said all areas of the building were involved.

Sheehan also said a steeple on the building has collapsed, with fire officials expecting further collapses. Route 9W at Corning Hill is now closed in that area.

Officials are now trying to determine a cause to the fire.



Sheehan also said the state of New York will be aiding in the fire investigation.

City officials are asking anyone who has video footage of the fire to send it to them.

A press conference on the incident took place starting 9:30 a.m. Friday.
