WA Fire Crews Extinguish Fire Despite Heavy Wind Conditions

According to a report from KXLY, Spokane County (WA) Fire District (SCFD) crews from several local agencies fought through high winds and fire Sunday night, just south of the city limits near Palouse Highway and Valley Chapel Road.

SCFD8 tweeted out a video of the conditions Sunday night.

Firefighters said that one home was initially in danger, but crews made up of District 8, Valley City, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management combined to halt the fire’s progress of the flames by 11:00 p.m.

Crews believed that up to two acres burned in the fire.

Some firefighters stayed on scene throughout the night to make sure the fire did not reignite. Investigators will return to the scene Monday morning to determine a cause.
