WA Wildfire Now at 70 Acres

Woodland (WA) — A wildfire that began at around 12 p.m. Sunday just northeast of Woodland has grown to more than 70 acres. Crews were expected to work through the night.

Helicopters and hand crews from the Larch Correctional Facility are fighting the Colvin Road Fire off Highway 503 and Frederickson Road, DNR spokesperson Janet Pierce said.

As of 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Fredrickson Road was closed and crew expect to be working throughout the night. No mandatory evacuations have been ordered, but residents have been notified.

Helicopters dipped into the water from the Lewis River all day to help put the fire out, also using aircraft armed with fire retardant.
