An Everett (WA) firefighter is being investigated for accusation of selling antiques from a burned-out antique store, reports kirotv.com.
The site was condemned after the fire killed a man and destroyed the building, but the owner couldn’t get to $20,000 worth of her antiques.
The owner of the antique store that caught fire last fall said one of her vendors spotted items from the shop on Craigslist.
A few of the items were a brass lamp worth $125 and a gold nightstand hand-painted went for $69.
Police told the owner to act like an interested buyer, and that lead her to the home of an Everett firefighter.
The Daily Herald reported the vendor went to the firefighter’s home and claims the firefighter said he bought the items.
No charges have been filed. The city of Everett placed the firefighter on paid administrative leave.
