Washington Firefighter Injured While Battling Arson

A firefighter was injured while battling a fire at an abandoned Renton house that officials later determined to be arson, reports www.komonews.com.

Fire crews responded to the scene, in the 18200 block of 140th Avenue SE, just before midnight after receiving reports of smoke and flames coming from the structure.

The fire was brought under control within about a half-hour, but firefighters continued to battle hot spots afterward.

One firefighter was injured, apparently while setting up to attack the flames. The extent of those injuries were not immediately known.

Officials initially considered the fire to be suspicious because there was no electrical service to the abandoned house. They later determined it was arson.
