Waycross (GA) Firefighter Killed in Line of Duty

A Waycross Fire Department lieutenant died early Sunday when a roof collapsed on him while firefighters put out a fire, reports The Florida Times-Union.

Lt. Jeff Little, 50, was pronounced dead at Mayo Clinic Health System Waycross at 3:17 a.m., Ware County Deputy Coroner Terry Anderson told the Times-Union.

Investigators determined the fire to be arson and Georgia’s Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, spokesman Glenn Allen said.

Anyone with information can call Georgia’s arson hotline at (800) 282-5804.
