The famed “Brotherhood” of the fire service is on display as thousands of firefighters throng to the Opening Ceremony for this year’s show, which includes a reading of the names of those firefighters lost in the line of duty in the past year. Bobby Halton greets the crowd and presents the Ray Downey Courage and Valor Award, along with a keynote by Erich Roden, co-founder of Urban Firefighter magazine. Then the learning kicks of with the first full day off classroom sessions.
