The fire chief of the Lake Mills Fire Department in Wisconsin died following fire training, according to a notification from the U.S. Fire Administration.
On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, and Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Chief Todd J. Yandre, 61, attended live evolution fire training at the fire station. Later in the evening, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Chief Yandre, while at the local gym, collapsed and was pronounced deceased at the scene from an apparent heart attack.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Chief Yandre was with the department for more than 41 years, starting out at a volunteer firefighter. He was also an adjunct instructor for Madison College, and a member of the Emergency Services Board of Madison College, Wisconsin Society of Fire Instructors, International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association.
