Fire photographer Dave Dubowski traveled to the Los Angeles area to capture the historic wildfires ravaging the area in January 2025. Below you’ll find a roundup of some of these images, including shots from both the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire.
The fires have prompted hundreds of thousands to flee and dislocated many Southern California residents, reducing some neighborhoods to ash. As of this writing, more than two dozen people were killed.

On January 9, 2025, a firefighter from Engine 6 with the Liberty Fire District extinguishes the ruins of a structure fire on the Pacific Coast Highway. This area along the Pacific Ocean was devastated by the Palisades fire. The Liberty Fire District responded from 350 miles to the north. On January 9, 2025, a firefighter from Engine 12 with the Kern County (CA) Fire Department extinguishes the ruins of a structure fire on the Pacific Coast Highway. This area along the Pacific Ocean was devastated by the Palisades fire.
