Wilmington (DE) firefighters are raising concerns about the city’s contingency plans in the event that the fire department is hit hard by COVID-19, according to reports.
WDEL reported that the local firefighters union is concern about the city’s rolling brownouts, which temporarily close an engine company on a rotating basis.
Wilmington Firefighters Association Local 1590 union president Joe Leonetti Jr. said the city’s emergency plan only ensures residents’ and firefighters’ safety if the “rolling bypass” is rescinded, the report said.
The report indicated that Leonetti Jr. wrote to the administration last week expressing concerns about the policy as well as a lack of cleaning supplies during the virus outbreak.
