A fire ripped through a mobile home community in the Gladeview neighborhood early Thursday morning, officials say.
At about 8 a.m., at least 13 Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue units arrived to the 2900 block of Northwest 79th Street to find two mobile homes engulfed in flames.
Strong winds made it difficult for rescue crews to knock down the fire, according to the fire department. But the main body of the fire was extinguished as of about 9 a.m. Firefighters continue working on putting out hotspots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Operations Division Chief Michael Eng said the holiday season is an especially hard time of year for such incidents to happen.
“It’s not lost on Miami Dade Fire Rescue that despite the fact that we successfully extinguished this fire and saved several properties that many families have lost their homes and their livelihoods,” Eng said.
The Red Cross has been requested to assist those affected by the fire.
Crews conducted multiple searches to make sure everyone was out and safe. There have been no reported injuries so far, according to fire-rescue.
