Rochester (NY) firefighters rescued a female victim and a firefighter who became trapped while trying to rescued her at a fire late Thursday night.
After it was determined a person was trapped on the second floor of the burning house, a firefighter went inside to attempt a rescue, but flames engulfed the stairwell, trapping the two, according to a report from the Democrat and Chronicle (http://on.rocne.ws/1ayuMrs).
Another crew entered the 2 1/2-story wood-frame residence and rescued the pair. News 10 NBC reported a Mayday was issued on the fireground.
Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment: the woman suffered unspecified injuries whereas the fire reportedly suffered second-degree burns.
Three adults and two children were displaced by the fire.
