Woman Severely Burned, Man Arrested in FL Meth Lab Fire

Clearwater (FL) – A woman was severely burned and a man was arrested after a meth-lab fire torched a Clearwater apartment unit late Tuesday, police and fire officials said.

The 32-year-old woman was flown by medical helicopter with second-degree burns over 80 percent of her body, police said. She has not been identified. Bryan Dean McDowell, 34, faces charges of tampering with physical evidence and was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $2,000 bail, police said.

Emergency units responded to the fire at Turnbury Apartments, 25350 U.S. 19 N., just before 11:30 p.m., officials said. The fire was soon under control, and no other units in the complex were affected, officials said.
