One person was killed and several others injured in a four-alarm fire in a Yonkers (NY) apartment house early Wednesday morning, March 15.

The blaze broke out around 4:00am on the fifth floor of the six-story apartment house at 1 Hawley Terrace.

The fire was swept by gusty winds off the nearby Hudson River and freezing temperatures made fire operations especially difficult. More than 20 families were displaced and being assisted by Red Cross officials.
