The FDNY Rumblers, a community based fundraising group of firefighters from the Fire Department of New York’s (FDNY) Battalion 14 in the South Bronx, is gearing up for the 2015 FDNY Lone Star Rumble to benefit Hope For The Warriors.
Members of the Rumblers include Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and first responders to the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11/01. The group’s mission to raise awareness and funds for wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen.
The mission of Hope For The Warriors is to enhance quality of life for U.S. service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors actively seeks to ensure that the sacrifices of wounded and fallen warriors and their families are never forgotten nor their needs unmet.
Thanks to the support of our generous sponsors in the past, the FDNY Rumblers raised more than $50,000 during the last two “Rumbles” and we look to this year’s event to be of even greater success.
This year’s ride is a 3,500+ mile fundraising route beginning at the World Trade Center in New York, New York; stopping in Dallas, Texas; and ending at Washington, D.C. The group will be volunteering with our Wounded Veterans at the 35th National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Dallas, and Walter Reed Medical at Bethesda, Maryland.
Riders have pledged to raise a $2,000 entry fee. The Rumblers hope that we obtain event donations and logistical support along the route for our members so that we can ensure that 100 percent of the entry proceeds are given to the Hope For The Warriors!
