GA Firefighter Passes Away from Cardiac Arrest

A Georgia firefighter has passed away after responding to a residential fire call, according to a report from the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).

On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at approximately 1545hrs., Firefighter George “Johnny” Childs with the Arcade Fire Department in Georgia responded to a residential structure fire.  The next morning, Thursday, December 5, 2019, he was found unresponsive by his personal vehicle outside a local business.  He was immediately taken to the hospital where he passed away from cardiac arrest.

He was 64 years old, and had 24 years of service.

This is the 54th firefighter fatality reported by the USFA in 2019.
