Maryland Assistant Fire Chief Dies After Falling Ill

Christopher Pryor, an assistant chief for the LaVale (MD) Volunteer Fire Department, died after he fell ill following a fire department response, according to a report from the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).

After returning home from an early morning response for a motor vehicle crash, Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Pryor, 46, complained to his wife that he was not feeling well.  According to reports from FirefighterCloseCalls.com, Chief Pryor’s wife then took him to the emergency room where, upon arrival, he collapsed.  Despite all efforts to revive him, Assistant Fire Chief Pryor passed away from a nature and cause of fatal injury still to be reported.

To date, nine firefighter fatalities have been reported to USFA in 2018.
