OH Fire Chief Dies After Responding to Boat Fire

The U.S. Fire Administration released a notification about the recent death of a fire chief in Ohio.

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, after returning from a mutual aid boat fire, Chief Douglas Dugan of the Tiltonsville Volunteer Fire Department became short of breath and collapsed. Fire department personnel were able to get Chief Dugan into the ambulance.

During transport to the hospital, he suffered a cardiac arrest. Shortly after arriving, he passed away. The cause of death has been determined as a pulmonary embolism.

Chief Dugan was 62 years old.
