Ride to Boston with Ignite the Spirit for Cancer

By Daniel DeGryse

Three years ago, I challenged myself riding 419 miles in five days for pediatric cancer and to support Ignite the Spirit. Riding 419 miles in the middle of summer when the temperature averaged 95 was brutal, but not nearly as bad as losing a family member, let alone a child to cancer. Since then despite going to some of the best cancer doctors and being told they would have a cure before she died from ovarian cancer my mother in law died in less than four months to the brutal disease of cancer.

Because of this and my desire to assist Rich Pinskey and his organization I again have joined forces with other riders to “Bike Against Cancer.” This time we will ride our bicycles 1,080 miles in 12 days. As a rider, we have been asked to raise $1,500 each for the cause. As I have said to many people over the years, people really don’t care until it affects them. Well, cancer affected me and my family and because of that I would like to raise much more than the base amount. So, whether you are a friend, coworker, family, or referral source please consider helping fight cancer. ¬†Whether it be $100 dollars or $5 dollars, please understand any amount will help.

The bike ride begins May 26.
