100 Club of Massachusetts Aids New York Fire Widows
The One Hundred Club of Massachusetts, Inc., presented to each of the 12 widows of New York firemen who perished in the tragic fire on October 17 at 6 East 23 Street, Manhattan, a check in the amount of $500. The presentation was made in the office of Fire Commissioner Robert O. Lowery on December 16 by George Swartz, president of the club.
The One Hundred Club is composed of approximately 700 members who banded together to assist the widows and children of firemen, policemen, state troopers and members of other protective services who are lost in line of duty. The motto of the club is “We care for those who care for us.”
