1966 Losses Up 2.8 Percent

Estimated dollar losses caused by fire in the United States totaled $1,496,755,000 in the year 1966, compared with $1,455,631,000 in 1965, an increase of 2.8 percent, the National Insurance Actuarial and Statistical Association reported today.

For December alone, fire losses totaled $142,213,000, an increase of 14.7 percent over $124,036,000 for December 1965 and an increase of 23 percent over $115,626,000 for November 1966.
