A COMPACT AND EFFECTIVE CHEMICAL ENGINE.
The Marten-Diggs Fire Extinguisher company is constantly bringing out something new in the way of specialties in chemical apparatus for towns and villages where there are no water systems. The latest is its No. 44, double 30-gal., twowheeled engine shown in the illustration, which is a whole fire department in itself. The first engine of this type built hy the firm was for Freeinansburgh, Pa., and a photograph of this machine decided the fire authorities at East Lebanon, Pa., to send an immediate order for a similar machine. Another is already under construction for a town where it was intended to put in a combination wagon for horse-draught. The company has also recently delivered a combination hose and chemical wagon with one 60gal. tank to the Newark fire department, a 40gal. engine to Troy, a 35-gal. to Springfield. Mass, and there are several others under way in the works
